Los Alamos MainStreet has a strong history of leadership in initiatives to improve downtown image and vitality. The MainStreet Futures Committee raised the funding and led the initiative to establish Los Alamos's Downtown Plan. Whether seeking grant funding for downtown projects, speaking up for downtown business interests, or formulating policy inputs Los Alamos MainStreet works for a vibrant downtown in our community.
MainStreet Futures Committee
Charter/Purpose:
- To identify and promote new & varied uses for underutilized commercial buildings,
- To identify new market opportunities for the downtown.
- To identify and promote initiatives that enhance the prospects of success for new and existing businesses as well as prospects for development/redevelopment consistent with the approved downtown plan.
- To identify and promote opportunities to physically improve public areas, buildings, and businesses in the downtown
- To participate in shaping intelligent regulation that supports implementation of the approved downtown plan.
- To provide input and advice to promotional activities of the MainStreet program

Los Alamos Creative District
Los Alamos MainStreet has received approval from the State of New Mexico for an area of our downtown be designated as a State recognized Arts & Culture District. The Los Alamos Creative District is one of a handful of State designated Arts & Culture Districts.

Heritage Tourism Promotion
